The English Department was instituted along with the establishment of the college in 1982. At first, English was taught as the Part I language at the degree level courses. The B.A. degree course in English language and literature was started in the year 1998.
Post Graduate course in English Language and Literature, started in 2012, marked an important phase in the development of the Department.
